Raccoons

Treatments for this pest are included in these services:

Smart, sneaky, and determined, raccoons are one of the most persistent mammalian pests. Raccoons are nocturnal and perfectly at home in residential areas as they scavenge for food and shelter thanks to their ability to swim and climb trees.

Raccoons aren’t aggressive, but that doesn’t stop them from being a nuisance. Their paws are capable of opening almost anything, from garbage cans, garage doors, and windows to even successfully turning doorknobs. They can also stand on their hind legs to inspect objects. Raccoons are omnivorous and will eat just about anything—they are an equal threat to your garden and garbage.

How to Identify Raccoons

  • Size – Typically between 2 to 3 feet long, weighing approximately 10 to 30 pounds.
  • Appearance – Distinctive black markings around the eyes, and alternating dark and light rings around the tail.
  • Nest Locations – Hollow trees, attics, crawlspaces, chimneys, tree crotches, and beneath decks.

How to Prevent Raccoons

Raccoons are experts at getting to where they want to go, so the best way of preventing raccoons is to ensure that there’s no reason to hang around your property. Properly seal any garbage that is in and around your property, securely closing trash cans. Additionally, you’ll also want to clean up around your yard to remove brush piles and other places where raccoons could curl up for a cozy nap.

And since raccoons eat such a wide variety of foods, any pet food left outside might as well be raccoon bait. If you have an outdoor pet, protect their food accordingly.

Raccoon Control Solutions

Raccoons can ruin your garden and damage your yard by digging around, and they can cause additional problems around unsealed trash as well as scuffle with your pets. But their persistence makes them tricky to deal with on your own, and it’s hard to get rid of a raccoon who has claimed your home as its oasis.

At PURCOR, our experienced pest control service specialists implement sustainable pest control solutions for raccoons and other pests, furry or otherwise, that might invade your property. PURCOR proudly serves the United States with effective pest control for your home or business. Contact us today for a quote!
